Community Guidelines

Version 2.0 · Effective 3 October 2026

This version takes effect on 3 October 2026 for every account. Existing accounts are asked to accept it on their next visit.

What changed

  • The guidelines now cover viewer participation: comments, reviews, ratings and voting.
  • Removed: rating and age-band rules for user-published stories, because the studio now publishes and rates its own works.
  • New: reporting a comment, automatic hiding after repeated reports, disclosing ties to sponsors and partners, and spoiler etiquette.

1. The spirit of the community

NovelLab is a place for people who love Arabic stories. Discuss, criticise, disagree and suggest, but with respect. Criticise the work, not the people.

2. What we encourage

  • Honest opinions about episodes and characters, positive or negative.
  • Constructive criticism and suggestions for future seasons.
  • Engaging kindly with other people's comments.
  • Spoiler warnings: if you reveal events from an episode released in the last 24 hours, start your comment with «حرق» ("spoiler"). This is a community norm; we do not punish it automatically.

3. What we do not accept

We hide or remove a comment or review that contains:

  • Hate and discrimination based on origin, gender, religion, disability or similar grounds, or insults to religions or national symbols.
  • Harassment, abuse and threats against anyone, including the studio team, partners, sponsors and other commenters.
  • Personal data, yours or anyone else's, such as phone numbers, addresses and private accounts.
  • Sexual or obscene content.
  • Unlawful content, including content that breaks the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, such as incitement or promoting drugs, gambling or fraud.
  • Spam: unauthorised ads, suspicious links, repeated text, or automated comments.
  • Impersonation: pretending to be the studio, a partner or a sponsor.
  • Deliberate disinformation, such as falsely claiming that a work insults a group in order to start a campaign.

4. Reporting

4.1 To report a comment, tap "Report" and choose a reason. The comment disappears for you immediately, and the report goes to the moderation team.

4.2 To report an episode or work, for example a cultural or historical error or a visual glitch, use the "Report" button on the work's page.

4.3 A person reviews every report. We aim to review sensitive reports (violence, hate, sexual content, anything involving children) within 24 hours, and others within 72 hours.

4.4 Precautionary hiding: if three different people report the same comment, it is hidden automatically until a moderator reviews it. This is a precaution, not a verdict, and comments are often restored after review.

4.5 Community moderators: trusted participants who have reached a set level of community reputation can hide an abusive comment. We review what is hidden and restore anything hidden by mistake.

4.6 Abusing the report system, such as repeated or coordinated false reports, is itself a violation.

5. Reviews and ratings

  • One rating per account per work. You can edit it.
  • Rate a work after you have actually watched it.
  • Disclose ties: if you work for a sponsor, a partner or the studio, or were paid, say so in any review of their work.
  • We remove paid, coordinated or automated reviews.

6. Polls

One vote per account. We remove votes from multiple accounts, bots, and votes that were rewarded (see the Acceptable Use Policy).

7. The Kids section

The Kids section has no comments, no reviews and no character chat, and shows no user content.

8. What happens when rules are broken

Depending on severity and history:

ActionWhen
Hiding or removing the commentA breach in that comment
A warningA minor first breach
A temporary commenting restrictionRepeated breaches
Account suspensionSerious or continuing breaches
Permanent closure and a report to authoritiesChild sexual exploitation, or credible threats of violence

A person on our team, not an automated system alone, decides to suspend or close an account.

9. Appeals

If you think a decision about your comment or account is wrong, write to support@novellab.ai from your account email and explain why. We aim to reply within 10 business days. Where possible, someone other than the person who made the decision reviews the appeal.

10. Relationship to the Terms

These guidelines are part of the Terms of Service. If they conflict, the Terms win.
